Pamella Elexpe Cardoso
I am Brazilian, born in São Paulo and raised in Guarulhos in a spanish family. I have had the privilege of living in other cities throughout my life and I currently live in Brighton.
I share the house and the life with my husband, Arthur. We came here because of his academic life and I took this opportunity to throw myself in photography. Things are still moving slowly here, but the city and the people are welcoming, diverse and still have a beach. Living here is a challenge that I accept with great gratitude!
If you are wondering how photography came to me I'll explain: birth photography practically fell into my lap. Naturalness is something I always looked for and cherished, so photographing without waiting for poses and smiles is what captures my gaze and that is why documental photography say much about me.
I have always been passionate about nature and the power it has. It's overwhelming!
The moment of childbirth is one of the most beautiful examples that I have ever witnessed. To be born and reborn, in all types of families!
There is nothing out of the ordinary in my path in photography. When I was little, I always liked to be in front of the lenses, but with time the interest shifted, and I ended up finding encouragement on the other side.
To care for another person has always been natural. To have an empathetic look and nurture the other. That's how my nephew took the veil away from something that has since ever been in me. It was by photographing the birth of this little human being that I awoke to be a birth photographer. On a December 2nd, I had two "first times": I became an aunt and photographed something professionally for the first time. I can't dare to describe everything that overflowed beyond me. Thank you Bubi for letting me out of the shadow and showing the light of a moment such as this.
And still now photography is showing her path in my life. Childbirth photography leads me towards other photography niches that I'm embrancing with passion.
PS.: we can talk in Portuguese, English or Spanish if you want ;)
